“What you seek is seeking you.”- Rumi
Imbolc marks the point between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, and its traditions stem from Celtic celebrations of the very beginnings of spring. Here in Canada, we are still far from any visible signs of spring, but the light is noticeably increasing and along with it, the hope and optimism of warmer days to come. New life is forming underground, in the belly of the Earth Mother, not yet visible to us. It is a wonderful time for cultivating childlike wonder, new visions, aspirations and faith- trusting that what we seek is seeking us.
Imbolc is said to be derived from old Irish, meaning ‘in the belly’ referring to pregnant ewes. The promise of new birth and the nourishment of ewe’s milk signify the hope and renewal this season symbolises. The Irish goddess Brighid- Goddess of healing, fertility, the hearth, smithcraft and poetry is also venerated at this time. In Wales, this celebration is called Gwyl Mair, the feast of Mary, and it aligns with the Christian Candlemas and our Groundhog day, with overlapping themes of purification, light, divining the future and preparation for spring.
It is also a time for cleansing the home, altars, and your life from outworn habits, physical & psychic debris and clear a path for new life.
In the life-death-rebirth cycle, this is the time where the Elder or Crone energy rebirths itself into the Infant or Child. Often our biggest obstacles to feeling inspired or moving forward in life stem from childhood wounds, so this is an optimal time to heal and nourish our Inner Child. It is a time for gentleness and protection of any new inspiration or dreams we feel stirring within.
In this online circle, we will discuss the themes of Imbolc and learn different methods of energetic cleansing for your self and your space. We will also do a guided meditation journey and reflection questions to connect with the Inner Child and integrate their wisdom into our plans for the future.
All are welcome to this online circle- all genders, paths, those new to these circles. Participants must strive to cultivate safe and sacred space for one another.

As a Witch who makes her home and practice in Tkaronto (Toronto) Ontario, I deeply thank the original stewards of this land: The Mississaugas of the Credit, Mississaugas of Scugog, Alderville, Hiawatha & Curve Lake; The Chippewas of Beausoleil, Rama & Georgina island, the Haudenosaunee and Wendat nations. I acknowledge the resilience of the First Nation, Inuit and Metis people who live and work here in the present, in a system of inequity and oppression. I am working on uncolonising my own practice, amplifying Indigenous voices, addressing cultural appropriation in pagan communities and supporting Indigenous communities in whatever way I can.
