Beltane is a Gaelic fire festival of fertility, cleansing and protection. In Wales it is called Calan Mai. It was customary to cleanse and protect cattle by running them through two bonfires as they go out into the summer fields. Sacred fires and ash were used to bless and protect crops for the coming summer season.
This is considered the beginning of summer in the UK traditions and a time when the faeries are out, causing mischief, hence the need for protection and appeasing them. In England, Germany and throughout Europe the beginning of May is a time of celebration and fertility, including dancing around the Maypole, decorating with flowers, honoring love, beauty and growth.
Here in Canada, we are finally seeing new life budding and sprouting all around us, the Earth Mother fertile and full of new life. As the sun is now in the earth sign of Taurus, our focus turns to security, stability, beauty, fertility and sensuality. It is a wonderful time to nourish our body, delight our senses and go outside to reconnect with nature!
The Earth holds deep and ancient wisdom that we can tap into through communing with plants, flowers, rocks and crystals. It is a wonderful time to slow down and tune in- lean against a tree and listen to its whisperings, hold a rock in your hand to feel its ancient wisdom, get your hands dirty planting a flower garden, or simply go for a walk and breathe in the fresh air!
In this Beltane circle we will be focusing on Crystals- the energies and healing properties of these wise beings of the Earth. We will do some grounding and relaxation exercises for the body and mind, followed by a guided meditation journey to discover a Crystal Ally that we can connect with for healing. We will discuss crystal care, cleansing practices and the ethical & environmental issues of the crystal industry. We will also discuss how to cultivate a relationship with our Crystal Ally.
Each participant will receive an oracle card reading from The Beltane Oracle by Lorraine Anderson & Juliet Diaz.
Join us from the comfort of your own home on Zoom. In the online circles, I try to hold a similar space as the in-person ones. So, I keep the group small and encourage some participation, sharing and connection. However, you don’t need to share anything if you don’t wish to of course.
Space is limited for quality purposes and not recorded for confidentiality. All genders and paths welcome, no witchy experience is necessary!
